Winery Restaurants to visit while in Marlborough

Marlborough is renowned for its wine, it certainly helps to make it one of the best places to live and visit in New Zealand.

There are a heap of wonderful winery cellar doors in Marlborough, and we’ve detailed just a few below which we think are worth a visit:

Saint Clair Family Estate
The Saint Clair Family Estate Vineyard Kitchen is nestled amongst the vineyards of Rapaura, just a short drive from the Blenheim town centre and offering world-class wine and food.

A continuously changing menu showcases the best seasonal produce Marlborough has on offer, each with a recommended wine match and a selection of stunning desserts.

We know from experience that the team at the Vineyard Kitchen is all too happy to cater for any dietary requirements, they already have a vegetarian dish  ‘Inspiration from the Garden’ which is a is a permanent feature on the menu.

The newly renovated cellar door offers ambience and comfort year-round, the ideal spot to taste their range of award-winning and world recognised wines.

Rockferry Wines
Set in a villa amid a stunning garden to one side, and vineyards to the other, Rockferry Wines offers consistently good meals paired with excellent wines.

With a few carefully selected ingredients, the chefs at Rockferry create delicious dishes which showcase the quality produce of Marlborough, they’re also famous for their stunning desserts.

Rockferry has 15 different styles of wine from three vineyards across Marlborough and Central Otago which can be tasted at the cellar door.

Highfield Estate
Perhaps one of Marlborough’s most iconic wineries, Highfield TerraVin Vineyard Restaurant offers superb views and delicious wine and food.

Owner and operator Stephanie has a passion for making memorable experiences for her visitors while they enjoy Mediterranean style food made with fresh and delicious ingredients.

Highfield TerraVin offers a range of delicious wines to accompany your lunch or to be sampled with a tasting at the welcoming cellar door.

Giesen Winery
If you like platters, matched with fine wines, the Giesen Cellar Door is for you.

A platter to pair with a bottle of The Fuder Clayvin Chardonnay in the courtyard invokes feelings of a European holiday.

The Giesen journey began in Germany with a hobby vineyard, before brothers Alex, Theo and Marcel Giesen made their way to New Zealand.

Here they planted grapes near Christchurch in 1981, before moving to Marlborough in the early 90s, where they continue to make world-class wines today.

Wairau River Wines
A favourite destination for Marlborough locals is the Wairau River Cellar Door in the Wairau Valley, near the banks of the Wairau River.

A couple of staples like their crowd favourite, blue cheese soufflé, is joined by an ever-adapting menu showcasing stunning produce and prepared to the highest standard.

For something a bit different on the wine front we suggest trying their Albarino which is a new variety to Marlborough but is becoming very popular.

Sit next to the cosy fire, or outside on grass and enjoy delicious food and wine.
