Vineyard Half Showcases Marlborough Story

SCVHM-2015-472There’s one thing the autumn leaves tell us here in Marlborough. Aside from the change of season, it also means the Saint Clair Vineyard Half is just around the corner.

Harcourts Marlborough sponsors the Vineyard Half, and this year we have six staff members competing, covering all categories of the event, the walk, the run and the hybrid.

Residential sales assistant Bronwyn Brown will get her running shoes on for the ninth time this year, competing in the run with five friends who are coming from away.

“It’s a fantastic event, a great course, and always a great afternoon enjoying the food, drink and entertainment afterwards,” she says.

Personal assistant Amy Eyles has also entered the event again, with a goal to smash out a personal best time in the hybrid category before this year’s “milestone birthday”.

SCVHM-2015-732“I walked [it] a few years ago, and then have done the hybrid the last couple of years. I love the course, with the entertainment and change of scenery,” Amy says.

“It makes what many would think to be a long, hard slog into something quite fun, especially teamed up with friends.”

Colleague, and property manager Dave Chambers has decided to participate in the walk, eager to challenge himself again after competing in the walk four years ago.

“I vouched never to do it again. Four years later and I’ve forgotten the pain,” he says.

These three will also be joined in their efforts by sales consultants Katie Gibbons, Kurt Findlay and Vicki Baker, as well as around 4000 others who will be in Marlborough for the event.

Many competitors come from out of town, and continue to do so each year.

“[It’s] a fantastic event for Marlborough, bringing in many visitors,” Amy says.

SCVHM-2015-714Harcourts Marlborough business owner Mark Davis says the Vineyard Half is a great event to support, and is a fantastic showcase for the Marlborough region.

“[It’s] a beautiful time of year with vines turning golden, the organisers are completely passionate about Marlborough and the opportunities on offer; exciting dinner events and Feast Marlborough.

“We love living here, so this is just part of our local story,” Mark says.
